Text

The survey was advertised via flyers posted on campus, brief announcements during psychology classes and through a website maintained by the psychology department. Participants completed the survey in exchange for credit toward completion of a research participation requirement for introductory psychology courses. Participants were at least 18 years of age and volunteered to participate. Both men and women were enrolled in the study and a history of alcohol use was not required. Surveys were completed online through a secure website. Before beginning the survey, participants were directed to a page containing an informed consent form. Only participants providing consent were directed subsequently to the survey itself. No personally identifying information was required as part of the survey. Participants’ responses could not be linked with their identities and thus, the survey was anonymous.
