Individual stress was reported by adolescents on the Changes and Adjustments Questionnaire (CAQ; Dodge et al., 1994) at ages 14, 15, and 17. The adolescent reported whether they experienced each of 27 possible stressful life events in the prior year, including events such as “moved,” “serious illness or accident,” “close family member died,” and “money problems.” The number of stressful life events was summed within year. Individual stress was also reported by the target adult at age 26 on a list of 18 stressful life events in the past year. Individual stress was averaged within time frame.
