Six of the ten predictor variables were not predictive of sexual debut at age 16 or earlier including sex of participants, metropolitan status, religious background, educational background of mother, educational background of father, and having a teenage mother. The variables that were least predictive of sexual debut were removed from the final model to generate a parsimonious model.
