Using heavy vs never smoking GWAS results from the UK Biobank (N=24,457 heavy and 24,474 never smokers),24 we found that rs910083-C is associated at P=3.6×10−4 and OR (95% CI)=1.05 (1.02–1.08) for heavier smoking. Although effect sizes were small, its associations with risks of nicotine dependence and heavy smoking were consistent (Table 1).
