Given that childhood drinking affects brain development, including gray matter development (Stiles and Jernigan, 2010), more negatively than does drinking at later ages, binge drinkers in this study, who started consuming alcohol later than participants in previous studies, may have been less affected by BD, which may result in maintenance of the theta power.
