The DDH was used to determine number of years of drinking, as well as cumulative uses of nicotine, cannabis, and other illicit drugs, respectively. Prior functioning was also assessed with DSM-IV attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) diagnosis, anxious/depressed symptomology from the Youth Self-Report (Achenbach, 1991), and perceived social competence from the Harter Perceived Competence Scale for Children (Harter, 1982).
