We note that a number of factors may be contributing, including differences in the outcomes assessed, the developmental period at which gene-behavior associations were tested, and differences in whether GABRA2 genotype was coded based on reverse versus forward DNA strand across studies, as the A and T alleles are complements of one another and this information is not always reported. Because the precise biological action of the rs279845 SNP is not currently well known, however, these suggested causes remain speculative until future research is able to provide support.
