The heterozygous knockout mouse model shows tauopathy and cognitive abnormalities as demonstrated in the passive avoidance and Morris water maze tests [Vulih-Shultzman et al., 2007; Gozes et al., 2014]. Interestingly, treatment with NAP or its derivative isoNAP was able to, at least partially, ameliorate the abnormalities in the behavioral tests.
