Suggesting that our participants' drinking behavior was representative of typical college drinking, monthly binge drinking rates in the current study (mean 38.8%; range 20.9% during senior year of high school to 46.5% during senior year of college) were consistent with national statistics indicating that approximately 40% of college students binge drink at least monthly (e.g., Grucza et al., 2009; Wechsler et al., 2000).
