Only the two independent cohorts were used for the height and WHR analysis. To estimate the phenotypic variance explained, we fit logistic or linear regression models including age, sex, study-specific covariates and the polygene score as predictors, and tails of the trait or overall trait as outcomes, in separate models. The phenotypic variance explained by the polygene scores was defined as the difference in R2 (linear regression) or Nagelkerke R2 (logistic regression) between these models and a basic model including only age, sex and study-specific covariates as predictors.
