Not only common but also rare variation plays a role in brain disorders, highlighting the importance of studying risk variants across the allele frequency spectrum. Our previous work suggests a potential interplay between common and rare variation in the genetic architecture of brain disorders42. Therefore, we assessed how rare and common variation in brain disorders crosstalk with each other at a gene level (Fig. 4b, Methods).
