Among 12-year old females, those with regular HED reported mean depression scores 5.5 points higher than non-users (95% CI = [4.0, 7.1]); 12-year old males with regular HED reported mean depression scores 3.6 points higher than non-users (95% CI = [2.3, 4.8]). Again, gender effects were observed, with the association significantly stronger for females than males during ages 14 to 17.
