more than 1 year. Finally, the sample size was relatively modest for the models tested, although a strength was the repeated measurements of the dependent variables across the period. In the current study, growth in the middle and high school periods was examined in separate models, partly to address the change in slope of frequency of alcohol use and volume between the two developmental periods. Future work should examine additional approaches to this issue, such as testing transition models (Nylund et al., 2006).
