AUD severity was assessed using the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) and, based on the GEE results, the correlation of the AUDIT score with the interhemispheric theta coherence value was evaluated. For all groups, there were no significant correlations between the EEG variables and the AUDIT scores (all P-values > 0.050) but there was a significant correlation between T3-P3 theta coherence and the AUDIT score in the AUD group (R = 0.424, P = 0.014). A regression analysis revealed that T3-P3 theta coherence positively predicted the AUDIT scores in the AUD group (B = 2.320, P = 0.036) but an additional model that also included the demographic and psychological variables did not reach significance (∆ P > 0.050).
