Further, considering the wording of some items (e.g., more than once drive a car or other vehicle while you were drinking; see Table 1), hazardous use could be endorsed despite reports of drinking that may not lead to impairment. Thus, the vulnerability of this one-criterion, residual diagnosis (i.e., alcohol abuse) to method variance provides yet another cause for concern.
