In all three examples, the mash estimates are noticeably different from those obtained by mash-bmalite (Fig. 4c) and ash (Supplementary Fig. 3). The decreased flexibility of mash-bmalite compared to mash is particularly evident in the first example where mash-bmalite estimates are almost constant across tissues, hiding the stronger effects in brain-related tissues that are clearly visible in the original data, and maintained by mash.
