To determine the positive predictive value of this claims-based approach, two authors performed chart reviews of 25 randomly-chosen cases and 25 controls, using Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM–5) criteria. The positive predictive value among claims-identified cases was 80%, considerably higher than reported elsewhere(Carrell et al., 2020). The corresponding negative predictive value among controls was 100%.
