such polymorphisms have not sufficiently explained the wide range of interindividual variance observed in the sensitivity to opioid analgesics. A genome-wide approach has not yet been adopted to explore the best candidates, although this approach has been applied to other pharmacogenomics-related traits. Several genetic polymorphisms have been found to be associated with the sensitivity to pharmacotherapies.15, 16, 17 In this study, we sought to comprehensively identify genetic polymorphisms in the human genome that could greatly contribute to individual differences in opioid sensitivity by conducting a genome-wide association study (GWAS) of healthy subjects and further analyses.
