In a previous study examining alcohol effects on links between error processing and a behavioral manifestation of control (see Jacoby, 1991), placebo and control group participants’ ERN responses were significantly associated with control estimates but alcohol participants’ responses were not (Bartholow et al., 2012), suggesting that alcohol disrupts the typical networks through which neural processes exert control over behavior. To test whether similar patterns might emerge with other control indices, we computed separate linear regressions in which the CE in RT (behavioral control) was regressed on the CE in the N2 and FSW following incorrect responses (neural control), beverage group, and their respective interactions.
