Text

In sum, research on the non-equivalence of SES indicators across race, the substantial differences in residential context by race, and on the multiple other ways in which race is associated with differential exposure to health risks, emphasizes that adjusting for individual and household-level measures of SES fail to fully characterize the social environment and to capture the vast number of unmeasured characteristics that differ substantially between racial minorities and whites.
