This investigation also reported aberrant over-expression of CtBP2 in HCC tissues when compared to matched normal adjacent liver tissues. After analyzing the patient follow-up data, we determined that CtBP2 overexpression in HCC tissues predicted poor patient prognosis after liver resection. The highly significant results of this analysis suggest that CtBP2 could be a useful prognostic marker of patient outcome after HCC surgery. Our clinical investigation also revealed that there was positive association between GLI1 and CtBP2 expression in HCC tissues, further supporting our conclusion that GLI1 upregulates CtBP2 expression in HCC.
