Figure 1A–C represents an overview of the locomotor activities throughout the whole conditioning process in GluA1+/+ and GluA1−/− mice. GluA1−/− animals were hyperactive at the beginning of the eight-trial conditioning phase relative to GluA1+/+ animals (saline-treated control mice, genotype effect, F1,50 = 28.49, p<0.001), but habituated gradually to the level of GluA1+/+ mice (genotype×trial interaction, F7,350 = 18.15, p<0.001). No habituation was seen in GluA1+/+ mice (trial effect, p>0.05), with their locomotor activity remaining constant throughout the saline trials (see also Figs. 2A and 2C). No significant sex effects or interactions were found in place preference experiments (statistics not shown).
