Text

Socioeconomic status was indexed by primary caregiver’s report of (1) single-parent household status (0=no, 1=yes), (2) household receipt of public assistance (0=no, 1=yes), and (3) primary caregiver’s highest level of education (0= ≥12 years, 1= <12 years). Status on each indicator was derived from the primary caregiver’s report in the first year that childhood trauma data were collected for a given participant (99.4% in year of entry into the study; second year of participation for the remainder), thus reflecting SES at the onset of the risk period for trauma exposure captured in the study.
