Cnih2fl/fl and Cnih3fl/fl mice were generated using standard procedures by inGenious Targeting Laboratory (Ronkonkoma, NY). For Cnih2fl/fl and Cnih3fl/f mice homologous recombination introduced loxP sites allowing for the excision of exons 2–5 and exon 4, respectively. Both lines were crossed to a FLP deleter line to remove the neomycin resistance cassette.
