Text

likely has to do with societal expectations for females who identify as women and/or have children (e.g., being too busy having and raising children in their 20s could mean that service use gets pushed until their children are grown; being afraid to seek help due to stigma and fear of losing their children). Such a discussion revolves around gender, not sex, though, and is thereby outside of the scope of this paper because gender was not ascertained in the COGA study.
