reported on death certificates, are listed in the Cause of Death Register. Since 1961, >99% of all deaths both in Sweden and abroad are reported. In both registers, definite SA and causes of death by suicide are coded using ICD codes: ICD-8 (World Health Organization, 1967) and ICD-9 (World Health Organization, 1978): E950–E958; ICD-10 (World Health Organization, 1992): X60–X64. Since ≤4 women died by suicide after participation in STAGE in 2005 (Pisetsky et al., 2013), one suicide variable was created. Any person identified as having attempted and or died by suicide was classified as having a SA.
