The significance of activations across subjects was tested with statistical non-parametric mapping (SnPM) (http:// www.sph.umich.edu/ni-stat/SnPM/). The functional images were normalized to template brain images created by the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI) template (in SPM; Wellcome Department of Imaging Neuroscience, London, UK). The paired t-test between patients and controls corresponding to target stimuli was performed using a nonparametric pseudo-t statistic incorporating variance smoothing with a Gaussian kernel (full width at half maximum) of 20 mm. Voxels with differences at p<0.05 (FWE) were considered statistically significant. Three-dimensional images were made on the MNI template brain using MRIcroGL (http://www.cabiatl.com/mricrogl/).
