later in development. Further studies are needed to clarify the processes underlying these links. At this stage, however, our findings point clearly to the utility of treating CD and ODD as fully separate disorders in DSM-V. As noted by Burke (in press) much past research has combined CD and ODD in epidemiological studies, hindering development of an evidence base on their differences. Fully separating the disorders for the latest revision will therefore improve the information available for the formulation of DSM-VI.
