feno and tesa. Neuropeptide signaling in the amygdala has established roles in stress/anxiety and alcohol drinking behavior. Pioglitazone and rosiglitazone (PPARγ agonists) demonstrated anti-depressant-like effects in rodents 1, 51 and rosiglitazone reduced physiological responses to psychological stress in rats 50. This evidence, in combination with our gene expression results, suggests that the role of PPAR agonists in stress/anxiety response might be important for their effects on ethanol consumption and is a promising area of study.
