The multi-region analysis showed TREM2 carriers do not show a significant difference in relative neuronal proportion compared to controls (p > 0.05; Table 4; Fig. 4e), whereas in the AD TREM2 non-carriers the relative neuronal and astrocytic proportions are significantly different from controls (β = − 0.07; p = 1.91 × 10−08; and β = 0.08; p = 1.25 × 10−08 respectively; Table 4; Fig. 4e).
