Numerous articles have been published summarizing how women and men seek treatment for alcoholism and examining gender differences in treatment outcome (e.g., Stobar and Annis 1996; Jarvis 1992). In addition to these studies, subtyping research may be especially useful for designing intervention and treatment programs.
