Due to off-axis diagonal structure in some of the time-frequency data (time-frequency inseparability), it cannot be fully captured in any 1D summary. Thus, all statistical analyses and inference were performed on the full time-frequency data. However, we also include 1D plots of the time course within frequency bands simply to aid in understanding the results. The cutoffs for each frequency band were chosen to approximate values typically used to delineate standard frequency bands in the literature: theta (3–8 Hz), beta (10–32 Hz), and gamma (40–100 Hz).
