Cognitive impairment after a stroke can affect the activities of daily living. Specifically, stroke patients are often associated with the working memory loss compared to age-matched healthy controls. The working memory is used for temporary storage and manipulation of the information and plays a key role in long-term memory, language, and execution function. Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is common in poststroke patients [1], and it is widely considered to be the clinical transition stage between normal aging and dementia. Therefore, early MCI detection is of crucial importance for preventing poststroke dementia onset [2–6].
