Adolescents’ self-reported lifetime suicide attempt histories (NIMH DISC-IV; DSM-IV criteria), inclusive of presenting events, were distributed as follows: Severe ideation/NoAttempt (NA; n = 84); Single Attempt (SA; n = 129); Multiple Attempts (MA; n = 139). Among adolescents who reported a suicide attempt in the past 4 weeks, the most recent methods included “cutting/slashing” (n = 64), overdose or ingestion of over the counter analgesics (n = 51), overdose or ingestion of prescription medications (n = 56), overdose or ingestion of unknown medication or substance (n = 37), jumping (n = 7), firearm (n = 5), hanging/strangulation (n = 12), and gas inhalation (n = 1).
