Chunk #106 — Cross-Talk in Protein Kinase Signaling Pathways

Source
Protein kinases and addiction.

Text

These examples of cross-talk between signaling pathways demonstrate the complex interactions between pathways. Drug-induced activation of protein kinase pathways may have numerous effects on other second messengers, culminating in complex modulation of gene transcription and protein synthesis in drug addiction. Cross-talk between signaling pathways increases the difficulty in predicting the result of targeting a particular protein kinase for drug development, as it may effect multiple signaling pathways.
