States that increased the SFA score from 0 (no bans) to 6 (total bans in private worksites, restaurants and bars) had a 24% reduction in total alcohol consumption, compared to a 10% reduction in states with the lowest quartile change in SFA policy score (0 to 2.2) (p=.007).
