endophenotypes (Wolen et al., 2012) and clarify networks of candidate genes in alcohol-responsive behaviors (Farris & Miles, 2013). Most network models of acute and chronic alcohol exposure have relied primarily upon microarrays, excluding many available ncRNA substrates. RNA-Seq-derived coexpression networks for alcohol-related phenotypes are still emerging, but should offer greater insight into the whole transcriptome (Giorgi, Del Fabbro, & Licausi, 2013; Iancu et al., 2012). Leveraging the network structure, in addition to differential expression, of the complete transcriptome using RNA-Seq will facilitate a more comprehensive assessment of transcribed features involved in alcoholism and drug conditions.
