Ghrelin and apoB are expressed in the stomach and have been shown to be involved in energy and lipid metabolism [30], [31]. Microarray data showed that the expressions of ghrelin and apoB genes were downregulated by chitosan in the stomach, with fold changes of −9.13±0.03 and −5.50±0.25, respectively (Table S1 and Table S2). We further applied qPCR to validate the transcriptional expression levels of these genes. As shown in Table 3, the expression levels of ghrelin and apoB genes were down-regulated by chitosan, which was consistent with the microarray data.
