Feed-forward processing is also evidenced by CSD patterns across regions (Givre et al., 1994; Schroeder et al., 1998). However, recordings from the ventral visual stream show a laminar pattern suggesting modulatory processes, in which the initial response originates in multiple laminae simultaneously, and CSD components are associated with no changes in MUA, or even MUA suppression (Schroeder et al., 1998).
