Subcortical volume in dependent individuals was significantly lower in the left and right hippocampus, the left and right amygdala, and the right nucleus accumbens (Table 2). Lower cortical thickness was observed in several areas, including the left and right insula, precentral gyrus, and supramarginal gyrus and the right medial orbitofrontal cortex.
