It demonstrated instead an association between theta power and several SNPs in the SGIP1 gene, involved in neurotransmission through synaptic vesicle formation (Hodgkinson et al., 2010). This finding was replicated in the same study and related to alcoholism as well. However, a subsequent study failed to replicate either finding (Derringer et al., 2011). Thus, our understanding of the molecular-genetic basis of EEG parameters remains extremely limited.
