Among men and women, a total 12.2 and 10.0% of variability in alcohol intake was explained by within‐subject changes with increasing age. Consumption changed within a number of baseline consumption categories during the adult life‐course, with slopes appearing to converge towards moderate levels (Table 1, Fig. 1).
