Management of GENEVA is coordinated through NHGRI, NCBI, and the GENEVA Steering Committee. The GENEVA Program Official at the NHGRI Office of Population Genomics facilitates achievement of scientific goals and provides institutional oversight and guidance to the consortium. The GENEVA Steering Committee is composed of the Principal Investigators from the specific studies, the CC, the GCs, and the NHGRI Project Scientist. An External Scientific Panel (ESP), composed of senior scientists with expertise in G × E interactions and genome-wide association research, was established by NHGRI to provide scientific insight into the overall direction of GENEVA and advice on specific design issues. While not actively involved in GENEVA operations, the ESP advises the Steering Committee and NHGRI on the scientific directions of GENEVA, the soundness of its methods and approaches and, when necessary, potential alternative strategies.
