Thus, for the 255-bp NR3C1 promoter construct, there was a significant effect on transcriptional activity of methylation status (F = 555.4, P < 0.0001) and NGFI-A expression (F = 387.3, P < 0.0001). There was also a significant interaction between methylation status and the presence of NGFI-A (F = 489.1, P < 0.0001). Post hoc analysis revealed a significantly (P < 0.001) greater effect of NGFI-A on gene transcription in the presence of the unmethylated compared with the patch-methylated 255-bp NR3C1 promoter construct.
