from each subject. The sample in this study is of heterogeneous descent between ages 12 and 25 and additionally multiple observations from the same individual were used. The regression method used here does not exploit family relationship data to establish genetic association so it is inherently less powerful than the generalized disequilibrium test used by Kang et al. (2012). For roughly the same level of effect size in the two studies, the effect sizes in Kang et al. (2012) meet a more stringent criteria (p < 10−5) than found in this study (p < .0009).
