The gaining and losing trends were computed based on the resultant outcome of the cumulative account of the preceding outcomes. For example, if the previous three outcomes were −10, −10, and +50, then the trend was considered to be a gain (of 30¢), whereas if the previous three outcomes were +10, +10, and −50 then the trend would be considered as a loss (of 30¢).
