Despite their lower levels of use, AAs who use alcohol experience more alcohol-related problems than EAs (French et al. 2002; Wallace 1999). Therefore, it is important to examine ethnic differences in the developmental trajectories of alcohol use, as well as different risk and protective factors to develop more culturally sensitive prevention programs (Metzger et al. 2013).
