The transcriptional start site of Per3 was determined using the Database of Transcriptional Start Sites (DBTSS; http://dbtss.hgc.jp).36 Potential transcription factor-binding sites were then identified using the TRANSFAC database and P-Match software37 by screening the 2-kb upstream region of the Per3 sequence. All binding sites were found using default parameters in P-Match.
