in our study were about two times more likely to have comorbid asthma compared to the male participants. Depression and anxiety disorders have been more frequently reported to be associated with inflammatory bowel disease [31], but previous studies were not able to establish a strong association of bipolar disorder with Crohn’s disease. Nevertheless, we found a marginally higher likelihood of a co-diagnosis of Crohn’s disease in females than males.
