A related interpretation of N2 supports the notion of selecting to execute or inhibit an appropriate response (Simmonds et al., 2008), whereas the NoGo P3 “effect” is considered more likely to reflect inhibition proper (e.g., Smith et al., 2007). Deficits caused by dysfunction of any of these brain areas would eventually lead to deficits in the resultant response inhibition.
